Refund & Freshness Guarantee

At The Leaf Origin, every box is harvested fresh the morning it is delivered. We stand behind the quality of every order. This policy outlines your rights and our process for refunds, replacements, and credits — in accordance with the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

Our Freshness Guarantee

If your microgreens arrive visibly damaged or not up to the standard you expect, we want to hear from you. We review each case and will do our best to make it right at our discretion.

When We May Offer a Remedy

We consider refunds, replacements, or store credits on a case-by-case basis in the following situations:

  • Your microgreens arrived visibly wilted, yellowed, or physically damaged at the time of delivery
  • Your order was missing one or more items
  • The wrong product was delivered

All remedy requests are reviewed at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to request photo evidence before approving any remedy.

How to Submit a Request

Contact us within 24 hours of your delivery with:

  • Your order number
  • A clear photo of the product showing the issue
  • A brief description of what went wrong

Requests submitted after 24 hours of delivery will not be eligible. We will respond within 1–2 business days.

Remedies Available

Where a request is approved, we may offer one of the following at our discretion:

  • Store credit applied to your account
  • Replacement included in your next available delivery
  • Partial or full refund to your original payment method (where appropriate)

We do not guarantee a specific remedy — this is determined case by case based on the nature of the issue.

What We Do Not Cover

We are unable to offer any remedy for:

  • Change of mind after an order has been harvested (all orders are harvested fresh every Saturday morning)
  • Incorrect or incomplete delivery address provided by the customer
  • Product left unrefrigerated or unattended by the customer for more than 2 hours after delivery
  • Personal flavour preferences — microgreens are a fresh produce item with natural taste variation
  • Late delivery — we do not guarantee specific delivery time windows; delivery runs Saturday and Sunday between 11 AM – 9 PM
  • Orders cancelled after the Thursday 11:59 PM cut-off for that week's harvest

Subscription Orders

You may pause or cancel your subscription before your weekly cut-off (see our Subscription Policy). If a subscription order has already been processed for the upcoming Saturday, it cannot be cancelled for that week, but no further charge will occur after cancellation is confirmed.

Refund Processing Times

Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Store credits are applied to your account within 1 business day of approval.

Consumer Rights Under Ontario Law

Under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, you have statutory rights to a remedy for goods that are not of acceptable quality or do not match their description. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit those rights where they apply by law.
